Horton and Osteen on 60 Minutes

In case you missed 60 minutes Sunday night Joel Osteen was interviewed by Byron Pitts and then had Michael Horton, professor of theology at Westminster Seminary in California, offer his thought's on Joel Osteen's gospel. Here is an 11 minute clip from the interview. I thought it was a pretty good interview and enjoyed a lot of what Michael Horton had to say.

I also have a video from YouTube by Piper that was put together and has his thoughts on the propagation of the prosperity gospel in America and throughout the world. It's about 3 minutes. Thought some of you might like to check this out as well. Enjoy.

interesting... i overheard part of an interview with joel today. to be honest, i felt like he was walking the line between the essence of the gospel an other gospel. they asked about his positive messages, and i wondered if he'd being straight with people or saying that they want to hear. and they asked something about bringing people from all religions together and he said he hopes he does. and i wonder if he means as people in community but still holding the truth to be the truth or not. i'll have to look into him a little more, but my initial impression of him was rather untrusting. :-)

I'm not a fan of him. He very much waters down the gospel/candy cotes it. You can definitely tell that he doesn't want to upset anyone by his answers.

that was the impression I got. seems like a lot of rich preachers with lives contrary to what we have been called to and modified gospels have been on tv lately.
